Laker Fans

Yahoo sports recently did an article on the best and worse fans in the NBA. They said that Laker fans have sold out every home game the past 2 seasons and 98% of season ticket holders renewed their tickets. Over 267,000 fans viewed Laker games either on KCAL 9 or FS West. That does sound like much but you have to keep in mind that those or local stations that usually only LA area households get. Not only or local fans showing up but also of course the celebrities are showing up as well. Jack Nicholson has court side season seats and we constantly see others like Denzel Washington and Leonardo DiCaprio. People could say that it is only due to their success but even teams who don't do so hot like the Knicks rate higher than teams that do have success such as the Orlando Magic who were in the finals last season. As a Laker fan myself I do have to say, "GO LAKERS!"

Yes, I agree that LA has the best Laker fans. It is hard to get tickets. I've been on the waiting list for about 3 years now and I'm nowhere close from being on top of the list. Even this year I waited hours before the tickets went on sale and was one of the first people in line and was only able to get my hands on one good game, but I'm grateful that I can watch them on T.V. GO LAKERS

Those statistics are pretty incredible for any franchise. I am huge lakers fan myself and occasionally my dad can swing some tickets each season. The only frustrating part about the Laker fan base that attends games is thier general lack of enthusiasm. getting tickets to these games as you poin ted out is getting more and more difficult and the celebrity turnout only hinders the average LA citizen from attending. Most people who can afford tickets are there more for a fun night out and are not truly passionate about the team. This is why the fans typically don't cheer until the fourth quarter and that's only if it is a tight game. The lakers have a great fanbase that really lives and ides by the team's success (myself included), but it is unfortunate that most of these people don't have the opportunity to fill the seats. I also think that the laidback California lifestyle is to blame for this complacency. In Boston, for example, they are a very pasionate sports city and thier crowds roar with excitement after every play. As much as I hate the Celtics, I am jealous of their crowd appreciation.
