Cavs-Celtics and Lebron

As a Laker fan, I am definitely rooting against Cleveland (instead of for Boston, two different things) mainly because Cleveland is the only team I can see beating LA. This has been a fascinating series to watch unfold as the media holds their breath on every detail, as Lebron’s elbow ails him one day, hurts the next, and then magically heals the following day. However, hype surrounding Lebron reached new heights after his head-scratching performance in Game 5 which put the Cavs on the verge of 2 straight post-seasons failures in which they were anointed the favorites going in. Game 6, which is tonight, is now being billed the biggest game of the decade with the possibility Lebron leaves Cleveland, which would shift the power of the NBA single-handedly. I’ve always found Lebron interesting because the media adores him and makes him out to the model citizens, when in reality he is more interested in become the first billionaire athlete. I have never seen one player dominate the ball in the fashion Lebron does, and yet everytime the Cavs lose, it is always because his supporting vast didn’t do enough. Well, what are they supposed to do when Lebron is going 1 on 5 and they’re standing around watching? The Cavs have overhauled their team multiple teams, going from not having enough offensive help, to now having all offensive help, but no defenders. The one constant is Lebron, and I’ll be curious to watch how his legacy unfolds after taking the biggest hit in his 7 year career on Tuesday night.

I am definitely interested to see how his legacy will continue to unfold as well if he does happen to lose this game. I will also be interested in what his decision will be this off-season. Although he has one disappointing playoff series last year, and possibly one this year, I still believe that Lebron's best chance at getting to a championship is in Cleveland. As far as Cleveland being the only team being able to beat the Lakers in the playoffs, I think that the Magic are being overlooked by a lot of people. The Magic have looked unstoppable during these playoffs, beating both teams they played pretty easily. And although the teams they played might not be as strong as others, they did what the top seeds are supposed to do. As a Laker fan myself, I would be more afraid of facing the Magic than Cleveland. In the end, it's going to be very interesting to see what happens in the East.

All this talk of Lebron amuses me. As someone who has never followed a season of basketball in my life (apart from these play offs) it seems a little hasty to right off the Cavs and Lebron. They had a really poor game 5, but when they won game 3 the talk was that there was no way the Celtics could come back from that defeat. You would still expect the Cavs to win the game they have left at home, so all they have to do is produce a 1 off road win and they'll be through. Hardly sounds impossible to me.

I agree with Bryant as the Magics looking really strong in the playoffs and I would be scared to face the Magics as well but at this point both the Celtics and the Magics look extremely strong and it will be interesting how the Lakers will do. I have to disagree with LeBron being a sure shot on staying with the Cavs. I think the Nets are able to really able to create a championship team if they are able to draft John Wall in the lottery. They will have Wall, Lopez, Devin Harris, and Yi. With the sigining of LeBron they could also sign another agent to the Nets. The only problem is who wants to play for one of the worst teams in NBA history and it is in New Jersey.

Right now Lebron is taking a lot of criticism from people for his performance in Game 5 and also for another season ending prematurely. As the superstar and the best player in basketball, it is understandable that he takes this heat. However, i really believe that head coach mike brown deserves alot of the blame. The offense that he runs is so predictable. He basically tells lebron or mo williams to use a high pick and roll and create a shot for themselves or someone else. There is a lot of pressure for lebron to basically spoon-feed his teammates into easy layups and shots. Kobe is so successful because the triangle offense allows him to catch the ball at the elbow, mid post, wing and also he cuts off a backscreen. The point is that i dont believe brown has done enough to alleviate the pressure on james in terms of being an offensive player. I think the Cavs have a championsip caliber team, but are lacking a coach who can take them to that elite level.
