Big Time College Football

Every year its the same teams in college football dominating the sport. I'm getting tired of seeing Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, and other big time program at the top of the ranking each year. In the past 10 years, Florida, Ohio State, Texas, and USC has been in the to ten schools in high school recruiting. Seven of the last ten Heisman Trophy Winners have come from USC, Ohio State, and Alabama.  When Boise State beat Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, I think it opened up a new since of confidence in non-BCS schools. We're starting to see smaller schools begin to rise and move up in the ranking, such as Texas Christian University and Boise State. Two days ago I spoke with my cousin on the phone, he plays running back for San Diego State, he told me he was going for the Heisman Trophy next year. He has the stats, but not the conference and the team. The NCAA, coaches, and computers will nominate an average player in the SEC conference before the nominate a good player in the Mountain West Conference. Its understandable that SEC is a lot harder to play in and winning the Heisman Trophy is not about stats but about performance and strength on schedule. Its good to see other schools and players challenge this notion.
