Medias Tends to Over Exaggerate

http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/dish/201212/embarrassing-photo-spurs-players-leaked-online

Weve all seen it before, how media tends to flip stories or over exaggerate certain things and theres no stopping from people mindlessly following a long and agreeing upon whats dished to them. Ive taken the article (that is linked above) as an example. Apparently Spurs' players Parker and Duncan have been captured posing with play guns and pointing them dressed up as referee Joey Crawford, whose calls tend to not be agreed upon. The picture was found and media did its job at "blowing it up". Its just a picture and obviously taken on Halloween as a joke. Somethings are taken too seriously just to stir things up. Although these players are pretty known and some fans look up to them, theres no need to take what they do in their personal lives and tie it in with the team. The Spurs were just recently punished because their star players didn't play the amount of time the fans wanted them to, and I feel this is just media throwing in more stories to aide in keeping the spotlight on and keeping people interested. Players are people and act and do the samethings we do, which in this case is make fun of a situation or certain someone, Crawford, that no one is really fond of. In a way there were making light of a situation and now that light has taken on a different shade.

I just recently came across this picture online and I also noticed how the media magnified it beyond what the image was really about. I agree that the media “blows up” many different things they could get their hands on and a big part of that is because they feel that will raise their rates, viewers, and of course their paychecks. Unfortunately, once money gets involved in the picture most people who work for the media do not care what they do or say as long as they get their money. Although the media does try to set things on fire by twisting stories up so that it sparks up viewers’ interests, I also think that a lot famous athletes should try their best to be careful with what they present to their fans and the world. Famous athletes should understand just how much they influence many people and everything they do or say is always monitored not just by the media but by their fans. It is highly recommendable for famous athletes and famous people to think twice before they publicly act on something because whether they like it or not, the media will always be there to snap pictures and take videos so that they could fix them and come out with their own interesting stories. All in all, a good way to avoid this problem (for athletes) is to thoroughly think about the consequences and outcomes that will come out of their actions, pictures, videos, etc.
