Throughout the human history, racism is one of the serious issues we have in the world. You can see racist behaviors everyday on the street, at school, on television, even in the world of sports. Manchester city's formal midfielder, Patrick Vieira stated that UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) and FIFA (The Fédération Internationale de Football Association) need to handle racist behaviors from supporters and players better. Vieira said
"If you really want to fight racism, if you really want to show to the world that football wants to fight against it, you will have to use a deduction of points against clubs or kick them out of European competition... If nothing is done, the situation will get worse and worse and you never know where things will go. Before we get to a place where you can't control it any more, you have to stop it straightaway and the only way you can stop it is to have clear, strong punishments... I think in the FIFA and UEFA rules, they need to show that they are clearly fighting against it. They have to show the example."
I strongly agree with Vierira that racism in sports, and in society, need to be dealt with. Once they show how serious they are about this issue, the fans and players will, hopefully, respect their point of view and their rules regarding to racist behaviors. However, I believe that racism will never be gone completely, but by doing this, we will be one step closer to it.

I totally agree with your blog. Fifa needs to implement more serious punishments for the teams who have fans displaying some type of racist activity. Recently there has been a considerable number of racist activity in the champions league one example took place in a match between Lazio and Tottenham. There was loud monkey chanting that was being directed to a few of Tottenham’s dark skinned players. Uefa actually took action and fined Lazio 32,500 euros. This kind of action might work since the team is losing money and the owner might give a press conference to inform the fans that the racist chants need to stop. I’m afraid that I racism will always have its marks in matches since so many fans have their mind made up and wont open their mind to what others think. If fines don't work teams might be punished with having no crowd in their home matches, but I think this would cause even more problems because die-hard fans tend to cause riots, which might result in loss of lives and an increase in violence.
