Why People Fight Fighters are unique

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMH_ajmDsSw

Above is a link to hear MMA legend Frank Shamrock voicing his opinion on this topic and I cannot agree more with him.

I brought this topic up in are journal reflection class we had on Tuesday because this is a topic that interests me personally. I like to hear people opinions on why fighters do what they do which is risk their lives each and every time they step into the ring or cage. I can totally understand the money is what drives a lot of fighters to get into the sport and I respect that. I also believe that their has to be something else that drives these men and women.

As I watch more bio's on UFC fighters mainly the wrestlers who got into the sport they all have the same answer "I want to compete I wanted to test myself" I have talked about this to couple of my friends and we all said the same thing. We all thought it was pretty dumb I am not calling them a liar but I would say that is a small portion of why they got into the sport. To be a fighter you have to be unique you almost have to flip a switch in your mind and go cause if you don't you have another guy across from you that wants to take your head off for a couple bucks here and there. For me this just an interesting topic because I do kickboxing and frankly I do not look like a guy that does really anything like that so when people ask me why it makes me think. I am not doing it for the money or the fame that would come from it if I went pro or want to be known as a badass or anything like that. I really do it because I feel free in the ring/cage feel like I found something that I needed in my life when things were not going so well. But it is a tough question to answer because like Frank said I "make the worse bet in the world with my body."
